Songs are born in different ways in my world. Sometimes they happen because of an experience or dream I’ve had that is so powerful that scribing about it in my journals is not enough. ‘Change’ is a song written for butterflies, dreams, and the fearlessness that must beat within a caterpillar’s heart as it prepares to metamophosize into a beautiful winged creature that will fly through the sky. These amazing creatures resonate with the energy of effortless change, and share this vital, natural way to live with us in their beauty and benevolent nature.
I wrote the song at sunrise in the desert after dancing all night under an open sky. I felt a deep kinship with the land, and the people that had gathered there, and my heart was filled with the light of the morning sun and fire of life. The words and melody to the song welled up from within me, and danced into the world on the first rays of dawn light.
Humans have the ability to live as effortlessly and valiantly as the butterfly. This song is a tribute to the bright flame of fearlessness, and metamorphosis that lives in the hearts of butterflies and humans alike.
